THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships, as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
